Check state and local coverage

Distinguish a supported state wage calculation from a complete state and local return.

Tax PreCheck educational draft · Updated 2026-09-27 · 2025 questionnaire

Find the jurisdiction, then check the profile

The coverage directory contains all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Each has a limited 2025 wage module. That does not mean every resident, income type, credit or filing status is supported. The shared profile requires full-year residence and work in the same state, plus additional state-specific confirmations.

Read local tax independently

A supported state result does not establish a local-tax result. Selected resident local calculations are available for Indiana counties, Iowa school and EMS districts, Maryland counties and Baltimore City, and New York City. Unknown or unsupported localities stay Not calculated. Other local taxes can require different information and rules.

Follow the combined-return instructions

For supported Indiana and New York City cases, state and local withholding have separate fields. Supported Maryland and Iowa profiles require one complete withholding total and a confirmed zero in the additional local field. These are this software’s input conventions; use the displayed instructions and original records to avoid adding the same withholding twice.

If you moved or worked across a border

Part-year residence, work in another state and special allocation rules are outside the shared supported profile. Keep your residence and work information accurate. The directory’s official source links can help you locate the correct forms, while the questionnaire identifies which part of the result it cannot calculate.
